Food Poisoning Diagnosis in Humans
Food poisoning diagnosis is based on the symptoms experienced and the type of food consumed. Physical examination is also done to find out whether the symptoms of food poisoning are also accompanied by dehydration. Body temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, and abdominal pain will also be checked by a doctor.
In addition to the above checks, your doctor may perform blood tests, stool condition tests, and parasitic examinations. These tests aim to identify the types of organisms that cause poisoning. However, there are also several cases of food poisoning that are unknown cause.
Imaging tests and lumbar punctures will only be done if suspected infection has spread to other body parts.
