Different Types of Memory Loss Diseases
Memory Loss diseases can be categorized into two main types. This division is based on the type of memory of the person with the disorder. The two types of amnesia are:
- Anterograde amnesia that occurs when the sufferer is difficult to remember things that happen after a certain period or date. People with amnesia can only remember things for the short term.
- Retrograde amnesia, a type of amnesia in which the sufferer can not recall past information before a certain period or date. For example, memory loss before the date of major surgery or accident.
As we get older, our ability to remember will generally decrease. However, amnesia can also be a symptom of a more serious illness or health problem. You should check with your doctor if you have a memory loss that worries you, such as memory loss that occurs without a clear cause.
